Fatal Wedding, Day 2: Bridesmaids Dresses

Bridesmaid dresses help to determine the colors and tone of a wedding, so now that we've voted on invitations, let's move on to the ladies! Remember to comment to be entered into random drawings over the next 14 days, culminating in the Grand Prize drawing on Valentine's Day: Win early copies of the Fatal books for the life of the series! Prizes will be awarded in the comments, so keep an eye out there to see if you've won. Sam's sisters, Tracy and Angela, will share the duties as her matrons of honor. Her nieces, Brooke and Abby, will be her bridesmaids for the AFTERNOON wedding.

Having never been a bridesmaid, this is fun. My idea of a perfect dress is one that can be used again.

I'm trying to base my choices on what I think Sam and Nick would like best (although it's really hard not to put MY spin on it!!!).

Marie Force said...

It is nice to be able to reuse it, Dru!

Kris, thank you for thinking of Sam & NIck's preferences!

Tanja said...

The perfect bridesmaid dress is one that is flattering on all of the maids. Beautiful wedding attendants make a beautiful bride, I think.

Ronlyn said...

popping in to say that the wedding is in the afternoon, just in case that influences your choices. :-)

Alison said...

I completely agree Tanja!

Thanks for the info Ronlyn...You just made my decision!

Marie Force said...

I added that tidbit to the write up. Good call, Ronlyn!

I love this voting wedding thing! #2, #2, #2! Are we supposed to pick our favorite? I'm the only one who picked a dress. Is my vote eliminated if I break the rules!?

Marie Force said...

LOL, April! You are more than welcome to express your opinion. I'd never attempt to hold you back! Thanks for coming by to vote! You can still vote on Invites from yesterday if you'd like to!

jackie said...

Oooo, they are all gorgeous. Can I just relive my wedding through them?

crazycommamomma said...

I like that no. 2 is short, for an afternoon wedding. But I love the color of no. 1 (and it matches the invites I chose!). Tough decisions!!

Vivi said...

I voted for #3. But I love looking at #1. I'm partial to green and it makes me crave spring.

Again, great choices. I, like Kris, am trying very hard to keep Sam in mind with my choices, since she is such a simple person....but with Nick, I am sure he would like a little flare, and with an afternoon wedding, there truly, in my opinion, is only one choice. BUT, I love the colors this wedding is going to be.

Ronlyn said...

LOL Marie. I just remember shouting...er...asking that question when we were trying to narrow down the choices. ;-)

Marie Force said...

You are very loud for such a little girl, Ronlyn! :-)

Stacey said...

Really touch choice as all 3 are beautiful. I went with #3 (seems to be a pattern with me), but I really liked 1 as well (would have to see the green in person :) Not a big fan of strapless for anyone in a wedding.

Jocelyn said...

Love dresses! This is so much fun! I'm really enjoying this!

Edie Ramer said...

That was fun. You picked great dresses, too.

Marie Force said...

Glad you like the choices everyone! I can't take ANY of the credit: Aly and Ronlyn SAVED MY LIFE and did all the choosing. They are the ones with the exquisite taste!

Amy in sunny CA said...

Love that deep burgundy/wine/purple color! Wow!

I wish the bridesmaid dresses I wore were that gorgeous. I shudder at what I have been asked to wear!

Ronlyn said...

oh Marie Marie...I'd be offended, but...yeah, I amaze people with my vocal capabilities on a regular basis. ;-P

I'm so glad everyone is having fun and liking all the options.

Aly said...

I was just the Googler. Howe has all the taste and class :)

Ronlyn said...

why, thank you Miss Aly!

drey said...

#2!! Love it! :)

Mary G said...

That was a tough one. Love the color of the first one but the style of the third one. BTW This is fun. Very stress-free LOL.

Louise said...

I LOVE the simple style and short (as stated) for the afternoon wedding of #2. And it compliments the invites I picked...I'm not a matchy-matchy kind of gal :)

:) love looking at pretty dresses...
Thanks for sharing.. I want to see which one wins..

Ladies!
Thank you for all the great feedback today! I'll be giving away one of the PRINT copies of Fatal Affair (coming later this year) to a commenter today!

Drawing to be done in the morning!

Jeana said...

they're all beautiful dresses but not all appropriate for an afternoon wedding...

Marie Force said...

LOL Jeana, if you know our bride, you'll know that telling her something isn't appropriate will drive her right to it! Sam would choose color and style over appropriate any day! :-)

Helen said...

Marie I am loving this series and I have never been a bridesmaid but had a bit to do planning my wedding beautiful dresses byt the way I am sure Sam is going to be thrilled with the choce

Have Fun
Helen

I think that the dress should be flattering to all body types so I'm picking #3 even though the color might be too dark for an afternoon wedding (maybe they can order it in a different color?)

Marie Force said...

The afternoon wedding does become an evening reception, though, right? :-)

Alison said...

Very true Marie...especially if there is good music and cocktails at the reception!

Blodeuedd said...

I do love the green one, but that is my own taste ;)

I think dress 2 would be perfect

flchen1 said...

Hmm... it's an afternoon wedding, so I like the feel of #2. I don't normally like the whole strapless thing but these look really cute :)

ShellyE said...

This is so much fun! My bridesmaids wore purple and white. Everyone says they want the BMs dresses to be worn again, but does it ever really happen??

Alison said...

I've never heard of a bridesmaid wearing a dress again.

tabzyreads said...

I'm favoring purple a lot lately. I like dress #3. It'll be nice for late afternoon and even evening wear. Plus, the 3rd dress resembles my BM dresses which they wore at my wedding just this past Saturday. ;)

tabzyreads said...

Omg, I don't know what I'm thinking. Okay, I'm probably subconsciously thinking of the weekend already. BUT my wedding was NOT this past Saturday. I meant, this past October. Lol. Sorry for spamming your comment area!!

Marie Force said...

Congratulations Tabitha! And than you for coming to help plan Sam & Nick's wedding when you so recently did it in real life!

Marie Force said...

That still warrants a BIG congratulations! You're still a newlywed. You can email me some suggestions of newlywed conflict I can work into Sam & Nick's story!

:-)

This is a great idea I love it.

Jamie Lynn said...

This is such fun! Hmm trying to pick the best one for the girl and for an afternoon wedding.

Cindy L said...

I can't wait to see how this all comes together! Hoping my dress choice is the one!

wantbaby said...

I love the sage colored one. I think it's understated, yet elegant, and is perfect for a Spring wedding. It won't upstage the bride, and it can work for both the afternoon wedding and evening reception.

So, based on the invites and now the BM dresses, we can assume the colors are purple and sage? Are those the "official" colors?

Heather

Julia said...

Those are lovely dresses! I think I would pick #2 since it matched the invitation I picked.

Tara said...

This is so much fun, and the dresses are great!

Makes me think of all the "you seriously expect me to wear that?!" moments I had as a bridesmaid. I would have loved any of these choices over those still shoved in a closet somewhere.

And I agree, Aly, you are a great Googler.

Sheree said...

Definitely Dress #3 - classic lines in a color that would look good on most skin tones.

Judy F said...

I voted for #2 since its an afternoon wedding and hopefully they can wear the dress again. LOL

Ronlyn said...

yes Heather, purple and green/sage are the official colors. :-)

Kay said...

In college a friend of mine was maid of honor for her sister, and I went with her to shop for the dress. Her sister had told her "go buy whatever dress you want, the only requirement is it must be peach color." I always thought that was the best way to pick the dress. But #3 comes a close 2nd...

Nancy said...

Although they are all beautiful, I think that #1 would be perfect for an afternoon wedding. Especially for a bride who didn't really want a big wedding. It is elegant and understated.

Monika Michalak said...

I love the color choices! I love green! My wedding was green & pink. LOL

Winner of print copy of Fatal Affair (available later this year, so this won't be an instant gratification prize) is:

AMY in SUNNY CA, because we need some sunshine in Rhode Island to melt the 4' of snow on the ground!

Amy, email me at marie@marieforce.com to claim your prize! Thanks to everyone who came out to help Sam choose bridesmaid dresses. Make sure you check in today to choose the flowers and invite all your friends to come over to play, too. The voting will be available through Feb. 14 for all choices!

this is so hard to choose!!

I haven't read these books yet and don't know the characters (hoping to change this soon) but I'm really loving dress #2

tabzyreads said...

Thank you, Marie. I'll email you some of our conflicts but have to warn you that I did not have a traditional American wedding so not sure if my conflicts will help any. Lol.

Mary Ricksen said...

Yes, if you can use it again. That's ideal!

Corrina said...

I think dress #3 is classy and figure flattering for all body types. It would be perfect for their wedding location! Other 2 are great, but 3 is my favorite!

Marie Force said...

I am going to post this to all the prior day's blogs too, so I apologize if you get this twice....

REMEMBER--voting continues over the weekend. Tomorrow, we have ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT decisions to make. Make sure you come on out to vote!!! Sam REALLY needs you tomorrow and Sunday (hint hint)....

oklanannie said...

#2 reached out and grabbed me -- I'm hoping it's an afternoon wedding. Otherwise, I'll have to cast my vote for #3 which I liked but it didn't grab me and say "I'm the one!"

limecello said...

Maybe it's just I'm not traditional, but I prefer dresses that aren't floor length. Or cuz I'm a shorty :P Love all the colors though!

SiNn said...

the 3rd one is the best im weirdtho they were all awesome and it is hard to chose with out picking for mys elf instead of them lol

Danielle Gorman said...

I like the second dress.

I love dress three. Flattering to so many body types!
