Book to Give Away: Signed Copy of SNAPPED by Laura Griffin

My friend Laura Griffin sent me a signed copy of her latest release, SNAPPED, to give away to one lucky commenter today.

Here's a brief summary of the book:

SOPHIE BARRETT THINKS SHE’S LUCKY TO BE ALIVE. SHE MAY BE DEAD WRONG.
On a sweltering summer afternoon, Sophie Barrett walks into a nightmare. A sniper has opened fire on a college campus. When the carnage is over, three people—plus the shooter—are dead and dozens more are injured. Sophie escapes virtually unscathed. Yet as details emerge from the investigation, she becomes convinced that this wasn’t the random, senseless act it appeared to be. No one wants to believe her—not the cops, not her colleagues at the Delphi Center crime lab, and definitely not Jonah Macon, the homicide detective who’s already saved her life once.

Jonah has all kinds of reasons for hoping Sophie is mistaken. Involving himself with a key witness could derail an already messy investigation, not to mention jeopardize his career. But Sophie is as determined and fearless as she is sexy. If he can’t resist her, he can at least swear to protect her. Because if Sophie is right, she’s made herself the target of a killer without a conscience. And the real terror is only just beginning. . . .

To be entered into today's drawing, tell me what makes your heart beat fast when reading suspense. Drawing is open until noon EDT on Saturday, Sept. 10.

I love it when the author builds up the chemistry between two characters. It's that oh my god, i cannot wait to have sex with this person... It's the build up to it that is so hot, when you write that out of control, i have to have this person now or i'm going to bust.. When you blend that in your writing,, DAMN it's a sure fire, winner for me..

I am a sucker for the moments when the hero/heroine think all is lost, that they might not make it in time to save the one that they realize they are in love with. My heart beats fast at the unknown possiblities....

Great writing in any suspense will make my heart beat fast. I can't think of any particular moment that does it. It's when the writing draws me into the book and I feel like I'm there.

I love the OMG moment where everything comes together. It's especially lovely when you don't see it coming!

I just started reading Laura Griffin and can't get enough. I can't wait to read this book.

Thanks for the contest!

In thriller movies there are cue music that tells me when a scary moment is coming up...and it's my cue to cover my eyes. The cue scenes leading up to all the heart-stopping moments in suspense stories are what both scares and thrills me. There is no escaping the visuals in my head, to slowing down my heart and no stopping me from turning to the next page. Suspense books are very engaging and I love that!

I LOVE Laura Griffin's books! I love when it all comes together in an RS book - the chemistry between characters, a great evil villain, and the suspense that comes with "I know this is going to have an HEA but how in the world are they going to get there from here?" THAT is what make my heart beat fast in RS.

Laura Griffin could write a grocery list and I would read it!!

I love when my heart starts racing and mentally I've become part of the story. I hold my breath when the heroine is hiding. I push down my foot if the heroine is racing away in a car. My legs ache when she's running.

I really get caught up. Obviously.

My heart races when the hero and heroine are racing to catch the villain before they strike again and the tension between the leads as they try to achieve this goal.

Congrats to Laura on the new release.

I love it when heroine, who is often smaller then the hero, does something that saves the heros life. Often much to his surprise.
Thanks for the contest!

I love lots of things about romantic suspense...the build up between the hero/heroine, the shock of the villians identity, the worry if the hero will get there in time, and when the villian finally gets what's coming to him.

Thinking I know what's going to happen, then being totally surprised and realize I had no idea the story was going to go that way. Love Laura Griffin. Thanks for the contest!

My heart starts thumping and I just can't put the book down when after a love-hate start ,the chemistry between the hero and heroine starts heating up the pages in the face of danger.

I like high speed car chases or when someone is looking for a suspect in a house or building and they sneak up on them from behind. That really makes my heart race.
