Sam and Nick want to thank you for helping to plan their wedding! They've given a lot of thought to a gift they could give their guests to remember their special day. In the course of their work as a police officer and as a U.S. senator, they see a lot of need in their local community. So in lieu of favors, they are going to make a donation in the name of each wedding guest to one of their three favorite charities. Nick left it up to Sam to decide what three charities to offer as choices, and she chose three organizations near and dear to her:
Charitable Organization 1
Washington D.C. Police FoundationThe Washington DC Police Foundation is a group of Washington area business and civic leaders who work with the D.C. Police Chief to promote better public safety across the District of Columbia.
The DC Police Foundation was formed in 2000 by Washington area business and civic leaders under the aegis of the Federal City Council to generate resources to support crime prevention programs and programs for at-risk youth.
The Washington DC Police Foundation works to support key unmet public safety needs identified by the Chief of Police of the Metropolitan Police Department and other public safety leaders in the District of Columbia. We do this by giving support to MPD and by engaging directly on public safety policy initiatives in the city.
The Foundation relies on financial support and in-kind resources from our members who include the business and professional community, retailers, faith-based leaders, civic leaders, philanthropic foundations, and individuals who are interested in improving public safety in our Nation’s Capital.
Charitable Organization 2
Big Brothers Big Sisters National Capital AreaBig Brothers Big Sisters of the National Capital Area is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of children through professionally supported long-term, One-To-One® mentoring relationships with carefully screened, caring and committed adults in Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and Suburban Maryland.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is the oldest, largest and most effective youth mentoring organization in the Washington Region. We are the leader in One-To-One youth mentoring services. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of young people. Big Brothers Big Sisters mentors children ages 6 through 18 in our community.
Charitable Organization 3
The Christopher and Dana Reeve FoundationThe Reeve Foundation is dedicated to curing spinal cord injury by funding innovative research, and improving the quality of life for people living with paralysis through grants, information and advocacy. The Paralysis Resource Center (PRC) offer resources on spinal cord injury, paralysis and mobility related disabilities.
And the winner is...
Number 3!
I was so glad you all chose that one in loving tribute to Sam's paralyzed father. In honor of all of you today, I'll make a $50 donation to the charity of the winner's choice in the winner's name, so go forth and comment on today's Big Reveal!
One more day, and then it all comes to fruition in Fatal Destiny! I posted a new excerpt on my Facebook fan page last night. "Like" the page and click on "Exclusive Fan Zone" for a little taste of what's to come in Destiny!

Great choice!!!
All these choices are winners but number 3 is especially touching because it has a personal touch to it. One of my favourite reveal so far. Keep them coming.

Very nice thing to do. Great choice.

all excellent choices
Again, all of these choices are winners. But given the way Sam adores Skip, this is a fab selection. I actually feel borderline verklempt.

So glad you all approve of this choice. It made me verklempt to write it into the story.
Thanks for coming out on a Saturday. Just one more day until Destiny!
Great choice!!! #2 is a charity my family is personally involved with but all charities are worthwhile! Love it.
All three are amazing organizations, but thrilled for the winning choice. Can't wait till Monday!!!
Any choice would help people who need it.
Loads of luck with Fatal Destiny!

Such a great cause! It's near and dear to my heart because I have a friend who became a quadriplegic our Junior year in high school.
I loved the excerpt on your Facebook page, Marie! I can't wait for Monday.

Great choice.
I can't believe it's already been two weeks. I am having so much fun coming on everyday and seeing the surprise winner. We should definitely do something like this again. So much fun and exciting.
It is the right choice keeping true to Sam's love for her Dad, and Nick's respect for him. What a wedding this will be--can't decide what to wear.
great charity! counting the hours!!! I can already hear the music in the church. . . .
Awesome tough choice! They are all good causes.

Love this- all the charities were of course wonderful, but three has that special meaning for Sam. :)
Couldn't go wrong with any of the three choices. However, because of the relationship between Sam and her dad, this was one just seems to be the perfect choice!
Have a great holiday weekend everyone!

Marie, could you provide a link for those of us who would also like to make a donation. This is a great charity. On bad days like today I remind myself I may have lost some of my abilities, but it could have been worse. I still have full mobility and can still do so many things others can't. And Thank you for writing such a strong disabled character into a book
The best give away ever! Great idea, Marie! Can't wait for everyone to get to read this installment of the Fatal series. So fun!
What a great idea! 3 really good choices :)

Excellent choice and would have been my selection as well, even though the other two are very worthy.

I think this was the hardest thing to narrow down for me. There were so many quality organizations to choose from. And yes, I know that it was for a fictional story but I knew whichever organizations we picked would be in the spotlight for the readers and I wanted to make them matter...did that make sense? LOL!
It was a foundation that I greatly believe in and I knew Sam and Nick would also want to help benefit those that are like her dad. GREAT choice gals :)
Definitely a worthy charitable organization.
It was a great idea Aly. Any mention brings publicity to a cause.
awesome choice!
I remember I pick #3 donation! I'm glad that was winner pick from among us :)

A donation in honor of Sam's dad is the sweetest choice of the three. As a fellow Daddy' girl, I am sure there is nothing Sam wouldn't do for her Dad!
Gotta go with #1. Police are oft forgotten unless they're called to put their lives on the line.
Great idea - awesome reveal! Thank you so much. :)
That is nice and very kind.
This one one of the most touching parts of the FATAL DESTINY wedding to me.
Kudos to all of you for picking the "Winner" out of these amazing organizations.
Great choice, that is the one I would have picked myself number 3. My mother was paralized on one side, hers was due to a head injury though.

Thought it was a beautiful choice
Terrific idea. Can't wait until Monday to visit Sam and Nick again!

These are all such great charities, but of course, it makes the most sense for it to be #3 in honor of Sam's dad. I do hope the mystery of his shooting is eventually solved.
And the winner of the $50 donation to the charity of her choice is....
