Book Club: See Jane Score by Rachel Gibson

From our hostess, Jackie!

RACHEL GIBSON scores a goal with SEE JANE RUN, and in my opinion, here's why:

This book is packed-full with smart, funny and provacative scenes, along with witty and saucy dialogue. The sparks fly - opposites attract - spit-and-fire sparring leads to spicy and steamy romance. An average plain "Jane" reporter gets her "Lucky" playboy hockey player! I just love when the plain, flat-chested short girl wins the game!!

Some of my favorite passages from the book are:

"You big dumb dodo!"

"What the heck is a body check?"

"What's this -- the I-don't-ever-want-to-get-laid-again-look?"

"I'll just take a moment of your time, and I'd prefer you not do your synchronized jock-dropping thing."

"You're a cute archangel of doom."

"You make me want to suck a bruise on you just to kiss it better."

"Look at all that testosterone on ice."
"Kind of like Campbell's Soup Stars on Ice?"
"No, kind of like a sperm bank."

"My body is a temple," he said around a bite of cauliflower.
"And anyone with long legs and big boos is welcome to worship," Jane added.

"This isn't hockey. There's no trash-talking in darts."

AND THEN there's the infamous "Lucky" tattoo (which, alone, makes this book a worthy -read!).

""He had a black horseshoe tattooed on his lower belly. The shadowing of the groove and nail holes gave depth and dimension to his flesh, and the heels curved upward on each side of his belly button. The bottom of the tattoo disappeared beneath the waistband of his underwear, . . . the toe of the horseshoe disappeared beneath his public hair and went clear to the base of his penis. A ribbon was tattooed just above . . . and tied from one side of the horseshoe to the other. LUCKY was written across it in bold black ink."

As Jane said, "I want to lick your tattoo."

SEE JANE SCORE is full of fun and highly recommended.

Recipes from our co-hostesses Jackie and Anne:

64 East Cheesecake

1 Block creamcheese softened
1 8oz Cool Whip
1/3 cup of sugar
1 graham pie crust
1 can cherry pie filling or other flavor

Mix creamcheese, sugar and Cool Whip together and place in graham cracker pie crust. Top with cherry pie filling

Greek Chicken Pitas

2 boneless skinless chicken breast or 8 boneless skinless chicken tenderloins
6 tablespoons lemon juice
6 tablespoons soy sauce
2 teaspoons oregano
1 clove of minced garlic

Place all ingredients in a storage bag and shake. Let sit for at least 30 minutes up to a day. Take meat out of bag and grill meat until done. Shredd or chop meat into pieces.

Serve the meat in pita bread and add your own toppings. We use lettice, english cucumber, red onion, cheese, alfalfa sprouts, greek olives, etc.

We top it with ranch dressing though you can use cucumber , olive oil, sugar, minced walnuts and plain greek yogurt to make a sauce with.
